Charles E. Adair

Charles
Edward (Eddie) Adair was born December 26, 1947 in Birmingham,
Alabama. He graduated from high school in Birmingham in 1965 and
enrolled at Vanderbilt University in September 1965. He transferred
to the University of Alabama in September 1966 and graduated in
January 1970 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He completed the
Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School in
December 1981.
Mr. Adair began his business career in
Birmingham, Alabama as a staff accountant with Haskins and Sells, now
Deloitte & Touche, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1972.
He was named Controller of Durr-Fillauer Medical, Inc. in Montgomery,
Alabama in May 1973 starting a career of almost twenty years.
Durr-Fillauer was a NASDAQ listed company that distributed
pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to hospitals, physicians, drug
stores and other healthcare providers. Mr. Adair was named President
and Chief Operating Officer in 1981. He was also a member of the
Board of Directors. At the time of its sale in 1992, Durr-Fillauer
had revenues of approximately $1 billion with net income of $20
million and approximately thirteen hundred employees in sixteen
states.
Mr. Adair left Durr-Fillauer in 1992 and
in 1993 became a Partner in Cordova Ventures, a venture capital
management company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The firm,
founded in 1989, manages seven venture funds with contributed capital
totaling more than $275 million. It is one of the largest and most
experienced venture firms in the Southeast. Cordova Ventures invests
in privately-held companies in the Southeast concentrating in the
financial services, telecommunications, internet and e-commerce,
biotech, medical devices and healthcare services industries.
Mr. Adair is currently a member of the
Board of Directors of four publicly-held companies, Tech Data
Corporation, Performance Food Group Company, Torchmark Corporation
and PSS World Medical, Inc. Tech Data is a $16 billion worldwide
distributor of personal computers, software and peripherals, while
Performance is a $5 billion distributor of institutional food
products and pre-cut produce. Torchmark is a $3 billion financial
services holding company specializing in life and supplemental health
insurance. PSS is a $1 billion distributor of medical products to
physicians and long term care facilities. Mr. Adair is on the Audit
Committee of three companies and Chairman of the Committee at Tech
Data and PSS. He is also a member of the Board of Sterling Bank and
Jenkins Brick Company in Montgomery and the Boards of numerous
privately-held companies affiliated with Cordova Ventures. He is
also on the Board of the UAB Health System in Birmingham.
Mr. Adair has been active in civic
organizations. He is currently on the Boards of the Montgomery Area
Chamber of Commerce, the Montgomery Area Red Cross, and the
Montgomery Small Business Incubator and has been a Board member of
the United Way, Success by Six, Leadership Montgomery and others. He
is a member of the First United Methodist Church where he has served
on the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee.
Mr. Adair is married to the former Alice
Virginia Barker of Birmingham and has two children, Charles Thomas
Adair and Emily Adair Burwell, and three grandchildren. He and
his wife Ginny
have lived in Montgomery since 1973.
